Liverpool pushing through with £70m deal; Lemar keen

The Reds have submitted an inquiry to AS Monaco for Thomas Lemar and are ready to stump up a whopping £55 million to land the Frenchman. The Merseyside club have not been put off in their pursuit, though, and have returned with a new package.

Monaco have resisted approaches for Lemar all summer including from Tottenham's rivals Arsenal. Get the app and get the game.

And now Liverpool believe they can complete a move Wenger insisted was "dead" and sign Lemar.

A record deal for Lemar is under serious consideration at Anfield, and the Premier League side will hope to change Monaco's stance in the coming days. On top of this, it seems only a matter of time before Paris Saint-Germain agree a deal for Kylian Mbappe. I make that Liverpool 5-0 Arsenal.

Lemar has been one of the most attractive targets in Europe this summer, after a fantastic season as part of AS Monaco's title-winning side past year, yet has so far stayed clear of the personnel exodus that has raked in over £300m for the principality club.

"No, I don't expect." he began when asked about the Mustafi rumours, before continuing: "It's hard for me to speak about any individual cases because we're now in the final seven days of the transfer market and it's always very hard to predict, you have to make quick and sharp decisions".

Meanwhile, Barcelona are still interested in Philippe Coutinho despite having a €125 million bid rejected by the Anfield outfit.
