He's signing a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks, as first reported by NFL Media.

Brock becomes the second member of the 49ers' starting 2016 defense to sign with the Seahawks with Seattle adding linebacker Michael Wilhoite last spring.

Brock's only visit after being released was with the 49ers' once-bitter rival Seahawks, where he's expected to join Richard Sherman to form the Seahawks' starting cornerback duo. Last week, the Santa Clara County District Attorney's office dropped the charges based on insufficient evidence because the alleged victim declined to cooperate. Rookie Shaquill Griffin and veteran Jeremy Lane have been the two most likely to step in for Shead.

The Seahawks signed him to a one-year deal, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. In a statement, Brock apologized to his family for what he called a verbal altercation and was adamant that no physical contact occurred with the mother of his children, saying he never put his hands on her. I had hoped to keep family matters private, but at this time I have to get the facts out.

Brock is familiar with the Seahawks after playing two games against them each year for the past seven seasons. Of course the Seahawks are going to at least look at a veteran, free-agent starter at one of the league's most hard positions to play. The information in the police report is untrue.

Jeremy Lane, usually the Seahawks' nickel defensive back inside, returned to practice Tuesday from what he said was a "tweaked" groin that sidelined him for nearly two weeks.

He's listed at 5 feet 10 and 197 pounds, which is a bit shorter than what the Seahawks typically prefer in their outside cornerbacks. As the case I was involved in has been dismissed, I am eager to move forward and focus on sharing custody of my two children and ensuring a stable environment for them.

Butler had 165 tackles last season at New Mexico State, leading all of college football.
