The 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games' organising board held the flag-raising ceremony for the 11 competing nations at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, Wednesday morning.

The Malaysians are the favourites to win the SEA Games gold in a likely rematch in the final.

Malaysia will be hosting the regional Games for the sixth time, earlier hosting it in 1965, 1971, 1977, 1989 and 2001.

At KL2017, archery offers 10 gold medals - five recurve events for men, women, men's team, women's team and mixed team, while the other five golds are in compound events for men, women, men's team, women's team and mixed team.

Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said the ministry was confident of achieving the target with the country playing host to a sport event which was being much awaited by the people, including the neighbouring countries. All preparations for the Games have been completed.

The national netball squad will also plunge into action against Thailand on Tuesday in quest for its first-ever victory after a winless performance in the Singapore edition two years ago. Thailand (95 golds) and the hosts (84 golds) secured first and second positions, respectively.
