Sanchez would be Tottenham's first major signing of the summer.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly hoping to snap up Ajax centre-back Davinson Sanchez for £40 million "before the end of the week".

However, Tottenham and Ajax have still not agreed a fee for Sanchez.

Ajax remain determined to keep hold of their Colombian star and have offered him an improved contract in a bid to convince him to stay.

According to an exclusive report covered by the Independent, yesterday, the former Atletico Nacional defender told the Dutch giants that he wants to join Tottenham.

In bad news for Tottenham, it appears they still have a lot of work to do to finalise the transfer.

Delegates from the north London club flew to Amsterdam on Monday with a view to returning with an agreement in place and Sanchez appears to be doing all he can to make sure it goes through.

That's opened the door to Chelsea and Real Madrid to swoop in. De Telegraaf report that there is "real interest from Chelsea and Real Madrid", while both clubs are said to readying bids.

As for whether he'll be able to play in Thursday's Europa League playoff against Rosenborg, De Telegraaf say that's up to the manager.

Davinson Sanchez is unlikely to take part in the game, however.

He trained under the false pretext of light knee in the gym while his teammates stood on the training ground.
