It appears that the questions surrounding when linebacker Jaylon Smith would play will be answered this weekend.

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith, who missed the entire 2016 season due to a knee injury, will make his National Football League debut Saturday versus the Indianapolis Colts, according to team owner and general manager Jerry Jones via Todd Archer of ESPN.

According to Nick Eatman of the Cowboys' official website, owner Jerry Jones confirmed Tuesday the 2016 second-round pick will be in uniform for the exhibition showdown. The Notre Dame star seriously injured his knee in the Fiesta Bowl, his last college game, that left him with nerve damage and a case of drop foot.

Per Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News, Smith has been a full participant in practice and gradually increasing his workload in training camp.

"Of course I'm excited to get out there", he said. I've waited a long time. But I'm not going to rush it.

Smith's presence on the field could present a big boost to a defense that has been heavily impacted by several free agent departures and multiple suspensions. It remains to be seen if Smith can recapture his previous form.
