It marked the first time in nearly a year since Wilshere played a match in an Arsenal shirt, with his last outing coming in the 3-1 Premier League win over Watford on August 27.

"It's good that he is back and available", he says. He is not far away now.

"I think I plan for him to be here for the whole season, after we will see at the end of the season".

Wilshere has fallen down the pecking order in the Arsenal squad in recent times and will hope to make the most of the limited opportunities this season by getting back to playing regular football for the Gunners.

Wilshere spent last season on loan at Bournemouth but his loan spell ended abruptly in April after he suffered a serious injury against Tottenham Hotspur.

Wilshere has been linked with an exit this summer as a host of clubs queue up for his signature.

The England global has just one year left on his current contract with the Gunners and as his first team prospects look slim at the Emirates for this season, it is likely that he will be sold before the transfer deadline day.
