China, Nepal agree to boost pragmatic cooperation, friendly ties

In another agreement, the Chinese side vowed to extend economic and technical cooperation for various projects in Nepal related to infrastructure development, road, railway, transmission line, tourism, and cross-border grids.

Expressing concern over recent violation of territorial integrity of China by India, the president said: "The patience demonstrated by China is commendable".

The president also underscored that "Pakistan desires to resolve all outstanding issues with India through dialogue, including the issue of Jammu & Kashmir".

The President said Pakistan in collaboration with China would continue its efforts to eliminate the menace of terrorism. He hailed the role of China in bringing peace and stability to Afghanistan and hoped that it would bring positive results and the issue would be resolved at the earliest. He said that Pakistan was looking forward to the visit of the Chinese premier to Islamabad soon.

The Chinese Vice Premier also mentioned boosting cooperation with Pakistan on counter-terrorism, security, and promoting people-to-people exchanges. "Both countries will continue to work together for development and prosperity of humanity".

Hussain extended gratitude to China for sending a delegation to attend the 70th anniversary celebrations of the independence of Pakistan.

He stated both countries stand by each other "in hours of happiness and sorrow which is an example for the world".

He also promised that China will work together with Nepal to intensify bilateral pragmatic cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, strengthen interconnection and intercommunication, maintain close coordination in worldwide and regional affairs as as to push forward the traditional friendly ties.

Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang, who met Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, said China and Pakistan are "iron friends" and all-weather partners of strategic cooperation who always support each other and pledged to deepen their pragmatic cooperation in various fields so as to ensure early harvests in the CPEC project. He underlined the need for stronger Pakistan-China economic cooperation and said China would increase imports from Pakistan for a better balance in trade.
