Rescue teams searched for a downed Army Black Hawk helicopter with five crew members aboard that was last reported off the west coast of Hawaii, the U.S. Coast Guard said on Wednesday.

The helicopter had five crew on board when it reportedly went down, Coast Guard officials said.

The U.S. Coast Guard and Army personnel are assisting in the search and have spotted a debris field approximately two miles out to sea.

The UH-60 Black Hawk is a four-bladed, twin-engine utility helicopter manufactured for the Army by Sikorsky Aircraft starting in the 1970s.

A Coast Guard HC-130 Hercules airplane and MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Barbers Point has responded, along with an Army aircrew and Coast Guard and Honolulu Fire Department boats.
