EastEnders fans who have watched Steven Beale manipulate, cheat and lie to Lauren Branning may be happy to hear that Aaron Sidwell who plays the evil character is leaving the show.

We all had an inkling that someone was leaving after some of the EastEnders actors let it slip at one of the cast members leaving parties and now it has been confirmed that it is in fact Steven leaving Albert Square.

Steven returned to the show past year with his girlfriend Lauren Branning and his nephew Louie (who's the son of his half-brother brother Peter).

Sidwell's current storyline has seen Steven lying to Lauren Branning (played by Jacqueline Jossa), about having a brain tumour in a bid to make her stay with him.

Soap stars have historically turned to money-spinning productions as a means of boosting their earnings and John has chose to lift the ban on the "EastEnders" cast accepting such roles in a bid to improve the overall mood on set. We wish Aaron all the very best for the future'.

"EastEnders" actor Aaron Sidwell is reportedly quitting the soap to return to the West End.

"He's got offers of parts in the West End and a tour of the musical Wicked, and he loves working in theatre, so that's on the agenda".

A source said: "Obviously this storyline has caused a lot of controversy".

The soap is keeping details of his exit storyline under wraps but given that it will unfold over a blockbuster set of episodes that will also feature a number of other major plotlines such as an ambulance and tanker crash, it promises to be unmissable.

Lauren's sister, Abi Branning and her father Max, are both conspirators in the brain tumour lie and Steven also had a romantic liaison with Abi.

As Max is hell-bent on getting revenge on the entire square we're wondering if he'll have something to do with Steven's exit...
