Accused Australian drug mule Cassie Sainsbury has arrived back in court in Colombia where she could find out if a potential six-year term in a Colombian jail will be accepted by a judge hearing her case.

The 22-year-old was arrested in the Colombian capital's airport in April with cocaine hidden in her luggage.

Cassie Sainsbury appeared before a judge on Wednesday afternoon (local time).

The plea bargain had previously been postponed after she claimed last month that she was forced to smuggle drugs because her family was being threatened.

It was struck by prosecutors in July and was on the verge of being accepted by the judge when Sainsbury told the court that she only trafficked the drugs under threats to her mother and fiancé.

He has rejected her plea deal meaning she will now face trial and could be spending up to thirty years behind bars if she is found guilty.

The 22-year-old from Adelaide, South Australia, referred to as Cocaine Cassie, was caught carrying 5.8 kilograms of cocaine concealed in 18 headphone sets at Bogota's worldwide airport in April.
