Eminem's Manager Paul Rosenberg Is the New Head of Def Jam

Marshall "Eminem" Mathers' longtime manager and business partner will replace Steve Bartels as Def Jam's Chief Executive Officer in 2018.

Paul is best known for being the manager of Eminem and the co-founder of the rapper's label Shady Records who released albums from 50 Cent, D12 and Obie Trice. Until then, Steve Bartels will continue with the job, who has been running the label since 2013. The label has seen a string of hit songs in the previous year, including No. 1s by Justin Bieber ("Sorry") and Desiigner ("Panda") as well as breakout successes from Alessia Cara ("Scars to Your Beautiful", "Home"). Bartels is said to be staying on until the end of this year, but it's unclear what role he will play. Reid, and Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter on the list of prominent executives connected to Def Jam.

Founded by Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons in 1983, Def Jam has become one of rap's most storied brands, yielding works by LL Cool J, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, Slick Rick, Rihanna, Kanye West, and more.

Says a source of Rosenberg: "He's super smart and will steer the company in the right direction".
