Carrie Fisher gets 'amazing send-off' in The Last Jedi

Since the tragic loss of Carrie Fisher, many have wondered how Lucasfilm will handle the future of her Star Wars character Leia.

He's out and about on the promotional trail for true story drama Detroit, but of course everyone is asking John Boyega about the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

In an interview with ABC News, Boyega said, "This movie sends her off in an incredible, wonderful way". And she is still kept alive in this franchise. "She lives forever, in a sense".

"It was wonderful. I mean, you get to know someone, and the gloss and the glamour of the person starts to go away and you just see the person and have a great time". "And you just see the person, and you're having a great time and enjoying each other's company".

The actor, who plays Finn in the films, was in Nigeria with his family when the heartbreaking news of Fisher's death broke. As he expressed, "It was odd...a unusual feeling". I felt like everybody in the cast and obviously around the world went silent for a bit, kind of like a dimmed light", he remembered, adding, "This movie sends her off in an unbelievable way.
