The company in a blog post said "Just past year, we shared that one billion people around the world use WhatsApp every month". You would be further surprised to know that 1 billion videos are shared every day on WhatsApp.

Whatsapp is one of the most popular instant messaging app in the world at present. Facebook had shelled out $19 billion to buy out WhatsApp.

Internet messaging took a bit longer to catch on than many expected, but Facebook-owned entities are now dominating the market more than ever. In May, Whatsapp had said that it had 340 million video calling minutes per day globally, spread across 55 million video calls made each day. At the time of acquisition, WhatsApp had only 450-Million users on board.

WhatsApp also revealed that it has over 250 million daily users on the Status feature, which was a clone of the Snapchat's Stories. The feature could let users share live location for 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes or indefinitely.

Recently, WhatsApp users got an update to make all type of file transfers. That means a remarkably high 76% of WhatsApp's monthly users come back daily.

Asked yesterday by an analyst about WhatsApp's revenue prospects compared to Messenger, Facebook's CFO, David Wehner, said the company isn't sharing detailed engagement figures by messaging platform, but noted differences in usage for each by region. WhatsApp also shared other statistics. In the app, WhatsApp will verify the companies and while creating a business account, the companies will not be able to change the name but only the profile pictures. There are billions of users using the service on a daily basis, which is a huge number, to begin with.
