"By all means it is not a publicity stunt, that's not really my style, I'm not like that", she insisted.

"She would step in say something about her being bisexual".

The North Weezy rapper - who revealed her sexuality ahead of the first anniversary of her debut appearance on the show - told Lorraine that she had been anxious about homophobia and feared a backlash while she was on the show.

Honey G was The X Factor star no one could stop talking about a year ago - thanks to her unique rapping skills, numerous fixing scandals and of course THOSE glasses.

Honey G declined the opportunity to reveal her sexuality on Channel 4's First Dates recently.

Speaking to the Sun she said: "I have dabbled with men before, but I'm gay and looking for a female partner that I want to settle down with". The last thing I wanted was homophobic haters.

Appearing on Lorraine, Honey G, real name Anna Georgette Gilford, opened up on the real reason she kept her sexuality a secret on the ITV singing show.

She also said that her sexuality had only come up once during her time on the show, recalling: "At my very first audition, Simon asked me if I had a boyfriend".

Honey G said she "wasn't ready to come out to the public" when starring on The X Factor, and added that her mentor - Sharon Osbourne - who is also Jewish, helped her to keep her sexuality private.

"I do worry about homophobia", she told The Sun.

Whilst the series may have ended back in December 2016, with eventual champion Matt Terry taking the crown, it's Honey G who's making the headlines once again as she has announced that she's gay.

She added: "I was DJing in Ayia Napa and I met someone out there and that was the turning point".

However, she went on to reveal just how much support she has had since coming out, saying:'The reaction has been mostly positive comments that I've seen on Twitter and Instagram. "I want to make sure that I'm with someone in a long-term serious relationship".
