Valverde was responding to questions about the Brazilian's future, after he scored the victor in their pre-season friendly against Manchester United on Wednesday.

With the crucial goal, Neymar also showed why he is reportedly the subject of a world-record offer i.e a likely move of 222 million Euros from Paris Saint-Germain.

Manchester United are better equipped to fight for the Premier League title in the upcoming season but need to improve further to be a contender for the Champions League, manager Jose Mourinho has said. It's very important to lose a match in pre-season.

And, unfortunately for him, Antonio Valencia was horribly at fault for Neymar's victor.

Ernesto Valverde's side triumphed 1-0 in the game, United's final fixture in America this pre-season, thanks to a first-half strike from Neymar.

The Spanish side were in control during the first half but failed to extend their lead with United goalkeeper David de Gea forced to make six saves to keep his side in the match. Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba, Samuel Umtiti, Nelson Semedo, Sergio Busquets and 19-year-old midfielder Carles Arena were included in the lineup headed by Messi and Neymar.

A long-range effort from Lukaku, a fierce blast from Paul Pogba and a curling effort from Rashford all tested Barcelona keeper Jasper Cillessen in the space of minutes.

Jose Mourinho has previously confirmed he hopes the big Swede would stay on at Old Trafford and he's expected to return for the second half of next season.

The match was the last of Manchester United's U.S. tour - which included wins over Real Madrid, Manchester City and Major League Soccer's Real Salt Lake and Los Angeles Galaxy. Barcelona is dealing with uncertainty over the future of Neymar, who has been rumored as a PSG target in recent days.
