A new trailer for the upcoming film Marjorie Prime has been released by FilmRise Releasing, according to Variety. What's your favorite film about humans and technology?

In terms intimate, romance-deconstructing/reconstructing sci-fi, it looks like it shares a lot with both Her and the arresting "San Junipero" episode of Black Mirror, both of which hinge on the liberating recognition of intimacy as collaborative projection.

That's the future imagined Marjorie Prime, starring Lois Smith as the titular Marjorie, a woman who uses a computer program to create an artificial intelligence that simulates her husband, played by Jon Hamm, after his death. "The beauty of it, to me is its humanism and seeing how it connects how we live and explore connections with each other, our family, and memory".

"Marjorie and I are both getting older". "Her past is complex and far from simply happy, though there is happiness in it".

Marjorie (Lois Smith) is an elderly widow who seeks comfort in Walter (Jon Hamm), a holographic projection of her husband when they were first married.

The film also stars Tim Robbins, and is written and directed by Michael Almereyda, based off a stage play by Jordan Harrison. "I wish for people to join it, enjoy it, and take it home with them, and I believe they will".

Marjorie Prime won the Alfred P. Sloane Foundation Feature Film Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
