Twelve people were rescued from the water Wednesday afternoon after a sail boat overturned near Hog Island Channel.

Police were notified around 4:40 p.m. of a capsized power boat near Stony Point Dike in Wareham, said Katie Gronendyke, a MA environmental police spokeswoman, in a statement.

Coast Guard launched a helicopter from Air Station Cape Cod, as well as a 45-foot boat from Cape Cod Canal. When they Coast Guard arrived they recovered the other three people from the water. An Environmental Police officer and the Marion Assistant Harbormaster performed CPR on the child until the boat reached Tempest Knob in Wareham.

The Coast Guard and local government agency crews recovered the other three people from the water.

The child was then taken to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, before being airlifted to a Boston hospital, according to Gronendyke's statement. His condition is unknown at this time.

As of 6 p.m., Onset and Wareham Fire crews, in addition to Massachusetts Environmental Police, were collecting debris from the incident.

"I was lucky enough to find that person with a life jacket on in the hull of the boat that was upside down", says Margulis.

A child was pulled from the water unresponsive yesterday when a boat capsized, dumping 12 people into the water off Cape Cod.
