Spalletti says he would like to keep hold of Perisic, but accepts Inter will have to let him go if a suitable offer comes in.

As per Sky Sports, Jose Mourinho's Manchester United were close to agreeing a deal to sign the midfielder earlier this week, with the player expected to be sold for a fee in the region of £48M.

Manchester United's hopes of signing Ivan Perisic could be coming to an end as Inter Milan remain set on taking Anthony Martial in return, according to reports.

They are willing to drop their asking price to £44.6m - providing they can take Martial to the San Siro on loan with the option to buy him outright next summer.

Real Madrid patron Florentino Perez is ready to off-load French global striker Karim Benzema to bring young striking sensation Kylian Mbappe.

Perisic was superb for a disjointed Inter side last season, who finished 7th, and suffered three managerial reigns at the club.

Martial impressed during the Manchester United's pre-season game against Real Madrid on Sunday and Mourinho indicated that he remains part of his plans going forward.

"He was enjoying it, he was trying new things, and it is important in these friendly matches to try new things, which he did".

"He is a fantastic player and if his future is totally up to me, I will definitely keep him", Spalletti told reporters.

Manchester United have allegedly offered £44m for the Croatia worldwide, but the Italian giants are believed to be holding out for more.
