However it is said that Hull are reluctant to let Clucas leave, but the report states that a bid of £4million could be enough to twist the Tigers' arm. Clucas may feel like the only way he will get an England cap is if he is playing in the Premier League. However, Hull will only sell him once they've found a suitable replacement.

The midfielder bagged six goals and laid on eight assists in 44 league games to help the North East club earn promotion to the top-flight back in 2015/16, and although he missed just one of their 38 Premier League games last term, he was unable to inspire them to safety. He also won the club's Player of the Year award last season.

Clucas has been a Hull player since his move from Chesterfield in 2015 and has quickly become a fan favourite at the KCOM Stadium. He would join Tom Huddlestone, Curtis Davies, Josh Tymon, Harry Maguire, Andrew Robertson, Shaun Maloney, Ahmed Elmohamady and Eldin Jakupovic in leaving the club.

So far this summer, the Magpies have managed to secure the signature of Christian Atsu on a permanent basis as well as sign Jacob Murphy, Javier Manquillo and Florian Lejuene. However despite his notable performances, Hull suffered relegation back to the second-tier.

Newcastle are in the market for new players and a goalkeeper and striker look like priorities for the Tyneside club ahead of the Premier League campaign kicking off next month.
