President Donald Trump has spoken with advisers about firing Attorney General Jeff Sessions and launched a fresh Twitter tirade Tuesday against the man who was the first USA senator to endorse his candidacy. He later said he did not recall discussing the Trump campaign with Kislyak.

The name of one longtime Trump ally, Rudy Giuliani, was floated Monday as a possible replacement for Sessions, but a person who recently spoke to the former New York City mayor said that Giuliani had not been approached about the position.

Jake Tapper showed video of Sessions saying--when he recused himself from the Russia probe--he "never had meetings with Russian operatives or Russian intermediaries about the Trump campaign".

Trump could order Rosenstein - and then Associate Attorney General Rachel Brand - to fire Mueller.

US President Donald Trump today slammed his own attorney general for not probing the alleged links his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton had with the Russians during the last year's presidential polls. (And after Flynn's firing, Trump has expressed regret that he had to go.) White House press secretary Sean Spicer resigned Friday but, according to all available reporting, Trump wanted him to stay on even after hiring Anthony Scaramucci as communications director. That person would have the same authority as someone who is confirmed by the Senate, Vladeck said. "And I don't think it will", she said. Trump had said in an interview with the New York Times last week that he would not have appointed Sessions if he had known the attorney general would recuse himself, as he considers the decision "very unfair to the president". The man who helped shape Trump's immigration policies!

In a statement, Cruz said he was "deeply gratified that we have a principled conservative like Jeff Sessions serving as Attorney-General".

Sessions hasn't responded to this latest Trump volley.
