"Detroit" Premieres Tonight At Fox Theatre

The Hollywood adaptation of one of the most infamous moments in Detroit's history - the 1967 riot - will screen nationwide August 4.

"Detroit" is a dramatization of the 1967 riot, which started 3:30 a.m. on July 23, 1967, police raided an after-hours club at the corner of 12th Street and Clairmount Avenue. So far 14 people have reviewed the movie with all 14 considering it "fresh".

Tonight a movie about the 1967 Detroit riots premieres tonight at the Fox Theatre.

Director Kathryn Bigelow also plans to attend. But on August 4, Annapurna Pictures is releasing a film that is unlike anything you will see this summer-or this year. Bigelow is the academy award winning director of The Hurt Locker, and Zero Dark Thirty and will be on hand for the world premiere tonight.

Those include: John Boyega (Finn from Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Anthony Mackie (Falcon from Avengers: Age of Ultron, other Marvel movies), John Krasinski (Jim from The Office), Will Poulter (The Maze Runner, We're the Millers), Algee Smith, Jason Mitchell, Jacob Latimore, Laz Alonso, Ben O'Toole, Hannah Murray, Kaitlyn Dever, Malcom David Kelley, Leon Thomas III, Joseph David Jones, Peyton Alex Smith, Nathan Davis Jr., and Ephraim Sykes.
