Commander of US Forces in Afghanistan admires efforts of Pak Army

The COAS voiced Pakistan's concern while talking to the Commander Resolute Support Mission (RSM) and US Forces in Afghanistan General John W. Nicholson who called on him at the army's general headquarters in Rawalpindi.

Pakistan Army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa today expressed concern over the blame game perpetrated by some elements in the USA and Afghanistan to undermine his country's role in war against terrorism.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations, the army chief departed from Rawalpindi earlier to head to Lahore to chair the meeting on security issues following the Lahore blast.

The COAS said that despite provocations, Pakistan will continue to act positively as we consider defeat of terrorism as national interest.

Incumbent COAS General Bajwa has unprecedented role in the peace in the country.

Nicholson reiterated his appreciation of Pakistan Army's professionalism and admiration for resilience of the people, statement further said. The two agreed to enhance cooperation and highlighted the need for continuous engagement between forces in both countries.

The US ambassador to Pakistan David Hale was also present during the meeting. On July 22, the ISPR announced the successful completion of the first phase of Operation Khyber-4.
