Till now there are no updates by the company about the launch of the new Swift hybrid in India.

Suzuki Motor has unveiled a new hybrid variant of its popular Swift hatchback in its home country - Japan. Powering the Swift Hybrid is a 1.2-litre petrol engine that churns out 89 bhp and is mated to a 10 kW electric motor generator sending power only to the front wheels.

Apart from the hybrid engine, the new Suzuki Swift gets a host of tech upgrades as well. The hybrid powertrain is paired to a 5-speed AMT unit.

Also standard are two driving modes - one that prioritises fuel economy, and other which focuses on energetic driving. The new variant is not only more environmentally conscious, but also more fuel efficient and the automaker claims a mileage of 32 kmpl in the Japanese cycle.

With hybrid vehicles losing all the benefits of the now discontinued FAME scheme in India, its very unlikely that the Swift Hybrid will arrive on Indian shores.

The vehicle comes in two-wheel drive mode and Suzuki claims a fuel efficiency of 32kmpl in the Japanese cycle and has managed to weigh just under 1000 kg. In Swift, Suzuki's hybrid system that combines the driving motor and the automatic gear shift is available in two versions- Swift Hybrid SG and Swift Hybrid SL. Advanced safety features includes the Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS) collision-mitigating system that features a monocular camera and laser sensor to detect hurldes ahead, as well as SRS curtain airbags and front seat SRS side airbags, come as standard.
