Spanish journalist Manu Sainz broke the news of the deal, but little else is known about Aguero's possible move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea had hoped to sign Romelu Lukaku to replace the Spaniard, but were gazumped by Manchester United, and now Sky Sports claim they have switched their attention to Aguero.

The prolific forward scored 30 goals in all competitions last season despite his playing time restrictions from January onwards, and so the 29-year-old evidently has more than enough to make City regret such a decision.

When asked if Aguero was staying earlier this summer, Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: 'Absolutely.

Chelsea have the funds to put in a tempting bid to City for Aguero and to offer the striker attractive terms, while they may feel their status as Premier League champions could prove valuable in negotiations. I've read a lot of the speculation on this and it's ridiculous.

In a shock move, it appears a Sergio Aguero Chelsea transfer has been approved by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

Italy worldwide Andrea Belotti has also been linked with Chelsea, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be available for a whopping £70m.

Aguero fell behind Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus in the pecking order for a starting position last season following Jesus' arrival.
