An Air India Express flight skidded off the runway while landing at the Mangalore Airport in the early morning hours of Sunday.

As per local sources, the airport authority has alleged that the aircraft had hit "some guiding lights" of the runway after landing at Mangaluru airport, damaging them. As per the report by Times of India, the pilots of Boeing 737 immediately brought the plane back to the tabletop runway's centre line after the momentary skidding.

The incident involving the flight IX 814 took place at around 04:45 hours and all the passengers and crew were unhurt, the official said.

There was no damage to the plane and no injuries were reported to the 185 people on board. The aircraft skidded to the right momentarily after it touched down but got back to the centre line thereafter.

When contacted, Airport Director V V Rao confirmed the same and added that there was no damage to aircraft, nor any passengers were affected.

At the same airport, half a decade ago, another Air India Express Flight 812 overshot the runway and fell off a cliff before bursting into flames.

According to Kumar, the aircraft did not suffer any damage and all 186 passengers on-board the aircraft were safe.
