United States Champion Kevin Owens' opponent for WWE Battleground on Sunday, July 23 will be determined next Tuesday in an Independence Day Battle Royal on SmackDown LIVE. It's a SmackDown Live-exclusive show, and will emanate from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA.

Jinder Mahal has already defended his title against Randy Orton at Money in the Bank.

First, Orton made his way to the ring and demanded that he gets a rematch with Mahal.

Triple H worked with Jinder Mahal in NXT, and Jinder praised Triple H for the work he does in WWE's developmental brand while calling him one of the smartest minds in the business. However, Mahal would get to pick the stipulation.

This is the third time Mahal and Orton have battled for the WWE Championship.

The only way to win in this contest is by escaping the bamboo-made structure, at the earliest which means that whoever between them will come out first, will be declared the victor. The Ascension denied attacking Breezango a few weeks ago and said they were at Money In the Bank just to get a spot on the card. That was suggested as "The King of Strong Style" was seen backstage watching Corbin defeat Sami Zayn in a match.

It will be the third one in the history of WWE, with others involving Big Show vs. Undertaker and Batista vs.

Since the rise of Jinder Mahal, a Canadian of Indian descent who is billed from Punjab, India, there has been speculation everywhere that it would only be a matter of time before WWE would bring back the vaunted Punjabi Prison match, and now it looks like the barbaric bamboo structure will be built in the City of Brotherly Love.

Battleground will be WWE's last PPV before August's SummerSlam, which is an interbrand show. None of these six wrestled on tonight's "Smackdown Live" but five of the six (Ziggler being the odd man out) did appear.
