The "That's What I Like" singer won Best Male R&B/Pop Artist at Sunday night's BET Awards, but not before he and his backing band kicked off the night (take note awards shows, this is a flawless way to start your show) with an impeccably choreographed medley performance.

Three years ago she left prison, having served time in relation to an assault. Makes you nostalgic, doesn't it? Remy also spit a few choice words in the form of a verse from her Nicki Minaj diss-track "shETHER". Minaj never officially responded to the song. But the grand finale came with help from the rest of the New Edition cast, who joined the band in matching white suits to bring the house down with "If It Isn't Love".

The good times for New Edition continue. The crowd was in awe, singing along and filming the performance with their phones. The pop star, whose last album was heavily inspired by '90s R&B, won best male R&B/pop artist. He and Beyonce tied for video of the year - the top prize but not televised - with their hits "24K Magic" and "Sorry".

It was a big night at the awards ceremony for Mars - he kicked off the show with a high energy yet playful performance of his song "Perm".

'They was just a little too sassy for me that's all, ' he tweeted.

Remy Ma went "All the Way Up" to the stage as the Best Female Hip-Hop Artist.

At 24, Chance is the youngest recipient of the humanitarian award. Among his contributions to the city, Chancelor Bennett donated one million dollars to the Chicago Public School system in 2016 to create an arts fund called Social Works. Michelle Obama thanked Chance with a special video message, saying that she and the former President have known Chance since he was "a wee little baby rapper".

"This is wildly overwhelming", Chance said. "You can make mistakes and come back".

It's been widely reported that the singer gave birth to twins earlier this month, although neither she nor JAY-Z have commented on the news.

The "B" in BET Awards could stand for Beyonce or Bruno Mars. She also notes BET's important representation of powerful women artists such as Missy Elliot, Lil Kim and Erykah Badu - among others - as an incentive for her teenage self to dream bigger and aim higher.

Ma took home the award at the end of the four-hour award show in one of the night's most anticipated award announcements.

For achievements within the movie and television industry, 2016's "Hidden Figures" won the Best Movie award, beating other films such as "Moonlight" and "Get Out". "Whoa", screamed Jamie Foxx, who presented an award after Blige's performance.
