Larson outlasts Elliott at Michigan again

He'll be bringing weekly NASCAR picks, analysis and breakdowns to help you cash on DraftKings. You get just in a bad spot, and there's nothing you can do about it. "But inside lane restarts at the end just killed us".

Another race, another first-time victor.

All he does is deliver Top 5s at MI, and he has a series-best seven over the last eight races here, including five second-place finishes. Winning the pole for this year's Daytona 500, he led 39 laps and was a favorite to win before fading to 14th place.

Denny Hamlin, who won Saturday's Xfinity race, was fourth, followed by Jamie McMurray and Truex. Logano has one victory this season, at Richmond, but it doesn't count toward qualification for the playoffs because it's an encumbered win (accompanied by penalty). Right now the focus is on Sunday and hopefully we'll have two good practices in race trim tomorrow. "So definitely good for us all to be running up front".

Kyle Larson took control on a restart with five laps remaining and raced to his second NASCAR Cup Series victory of the season, holding off Chase Elliott on Sunday at Michigan International Speedway. "He just had enough air down there to get to the side of us, and it was just a race to the line after that".

After 10 laps, Larson held a 1.933-second lead over Kenseth. Place Differential is going to be huge in finding value this week, especially in cash games. "You're going to have some interesting moments in traffic", he explained.

"The 78 [of Truex] was by far the class of the field, I thought", Larson said. He's looking forward to racing in traffic.

The victory by Larson at MI a year ago was his first on NASCAR's top circuit. Both have a sub 6.0 average finish.

Prior to his one year stint with HScott Motorsports in 2016 that resulted in finishes of 23rd and 40th, Bowyer had nine top-10 finishes in 10 races at MI. With Joey Logano, the lone Ford, posting the third fastest speed at 200.479 miles per hour. No one doubts Chip Ganassi or Furniture Row, but they certainly don't get the same attention as teams such as Hendrick Motorsports or Team Penske, whose drivers populate much of the top-10. Two rounds of single-car qualifying were completed with the top 12 drivers advancing to the final round. Truex not only has two race victories of his own, but he's led the most laps in two other events and obviously has adapted well to the Cup Series' new stage plan.

"We don't turn our engines very high because we don't have time to fix them if we blow one". It is also nice to see Truex Jr's price drop $300 this week at a track he has done well at in the past.

Don't like Logano? What about teammate Brad Keselowski? The Byron, Mich., native was also the fastest qualifying rookie.

Next came Ryan Blaney, last year's ROTY runner-up who one-upped Elliott by reaching Victory Lane first. He has zero negative place differential value and showed mid 20's speed in the final practices. The trucks will re-convene with the Xfinity series next week in Iowa. You can catch the race Sunday at 3:00 p.m. ET on FS1.

"Feels like a win, just to stop the bleeding", Logano said. Nobody else has more than four. He lives in Saskatchewan, Canada with his wife and two daughters. He is active player in NFL, MLB, NHL, PGA, and of course NASCAR.
