Bale's place in the Madrid side has not been guaranteed by team coach Zinedine Zidane, and speculation has grown over the Welshman's possible exit from the Santiago Bernabeu.

With Cristiano Ronaldo suspended for the match, Bale was personally culpable of numerous misses, leading fans to turn on the former Tottenham player.

Spanish media outlet Don Balon is reporting Manchester United have made a sensational £92 million transfer offer to Real Madrid for Gareth Bale.

Jose Mourinho's Manchester United has reportedly launched a new bid for a Real Madrid superstar.

Zidane remarked afterwards: "He is an important player in the squad. Gareth is Gareth. We keep working hard and we rely on Gareth, just as is the case with the other players", Zidane said. Bale is Bale, we are going to continue working and we have him as well as everyone else.

He said: "I think from our point of view my opinion is that La Liga, the tempo and physicality is completely different to the Premier League".

The weight of expectation is so high at Real Madrid, that the players are often subject to abuse from their fans if they don't win a home match. You work all your life to get the top, you don't want to give that up.
