President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga have mourned Robert Ouko's wife Christabel who died in a road accident on Monday. President Kenyatta sent his condolences to the Ouko family and friends.

"We have known Christabel and the family of the late Robert Ouko for a long time".

In prior TUKO.co.ke reports, President Uhuru Kenyatta eulogised her as a distinguished woman who dedicated her life to family, community and country.

Ouko's charred body was discovered by a herdsman at Got Alila near his Koru home, two days after he was reported missing.

Mr Odinga said it is sad that Mrs Ouko lived and died with the pain of never knowing who was responsible for the cruel murder of her husband or finding justice for him. "We extend our deepest sympathy to the family and friends", Raila said.

"It is a pain now transferred to the remaining family members mourning her sudden passing", Mr Odinga said. "God bless Christabel. May her soul rest in eternal peace", Governor Nyong'o said.

"While we will deeply miss her, we will forever remember her for her courage and determination against great odds".

Mrs Ouko died in a road accident that occurred at Kipsitet area along Awasi-Kericho highway, according to police.

Christabel was a key witness in her husband's commission of inquiry formed to identify her husband's killers, chaired by the then Chief Justice Evan Gicheru.

"She impacted positively on the lives of the downtrodden in the society and was a team player".

"As we have all heard, she was a wonderful human being and we can testify to that fact. She was my staunch supporter".

Mrs Ouko joined the civil service as a tax officer with the East African Community in Arusha and later became an immigration officer before resigning to join Dr Ouko who was appointed head of the East African Community.

Sources indicated that Christabel was headed to her Koru home after attending the inauguration of Professor Anyang Nyong'o as the new governor for Kisumu.

Mrs Ouko died while undergoing treatment at Siloam Hospital from what doctors said was internal bleeding.
