That is done now, and I am really happy and we won too so it was a very good day.

'I found out I was playing there at the beginning of the week, ' he revealed afterwards.

The Brazil worldwide said he felt Chelsea had played "a clever game" in the absence of key men Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas and Gary Cahill. You need to understand when you play against a very good team, sometimes you can keep more of the ball but sometimes you need to try to surprise them on the counter-attack with one touch.

Luiz added that he was pleased with the way in which Chelsea had bounced back from last week's home defeat to Burnley, adding: "Last week was a bad first half and then the second half was great". We played in a midfield three with David [Luiz]. "It was important to show that [character] after a defeat". I think we deserved the win.

Bakayoko played the full 90 minutes as the Blues secured a 2-1 win over their fierce London rivals.

Chelsea will go into their next match against Everton significantly more confident than they did against Spurs - given that they went into the game on the back of a humiliating 3-2 home defeat to Burnley.

While Bakayoko clearly looked out of rhythm in the first few minutes, he grew into the game soon enough and started showcasing some of the qualities that convinced Chelsea to spend £40 million on him. "It was first match since the injury so, it will come, but I'm happy overall". Sometimes with managers, what they tend to do is they think I've got to go into the market, I've got to go and buy players and there might be someone in your academy, that's staring you in your face. Of course, it wasn't easy, I needed to get the rhythm.

Speaking to SFR Sport, Bakayoko said: "Yeah, I held on. But this will come in the future and I am happy for this debut anyway".

Despite being far from fully fit, the French powerhouse played the full game at Wembley and showed signs he can be a star in the Premier League. I had good spells, some not so good.
