The Railway Ministry stated that the Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu is personally looking into the matter.

The rail traffic on Auraiya-Delhi-Howrah route has been affected due to the derailment of Kaifiyat Express in Auraiya. Some passengers have received Injuries and have been shifted to nearby hospitals. He is constantly monitoring the situation.

Principal Secretary Home said rescue operation over, 74 passengers received minor injuries. They have been referred to hospitals in Etawah and Saifai.

This accident comes just three days after 14 coaches of the Kalinga Utkal Express derailed at Khatauli in the state's Muzaffarnagar district, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring another 156.
