As a result of the case, for which there is a warrant out for Bowie's arrest with bonds totaling $17,000, Bowie was not allowed to travel with the Giants to their preseason game in Cleveland.

A statement from the Giants acknowledged the team learned of Bowie's situation on Saturday afternoon, and immediately notified NFL Security; the team will not bring Bowie to Cleveland, where they play on Monday night.

Messages left with Bowie's agent have not yet been returned. The baseline suspension for an domestic violence incident under the personal conduct policy is six games.

New York Giants offensive tackle Michael Bowie could see his season shortened significantly after allegations surfaced that he had abused his girlfriend.

Michael Bowie, 25, has been in camp with the G-Men this preseason after having previously played a total of three National Football League seasons with the Seahawks and Browns.

Bowie allegedly grabbed his girlfriend by the neck during the argument and threw her on the ground, then broke a pair of TVs and punched a hole in the wall.

The alleged incident reportedly occurred earlier this summer. Bowie has also been on the Browns' roster. He is now a third-stringer. Bowie, who attended Northeastern State University in Oklahoma, was a seventh-round selection of the Seahawks in the 2013 NFL Draft.
