Conte: I want to lead Chelsea out in the new Stamford Bridge

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believes that Chelsea remain favourites for the Premier League title despite their tumultuous pre-season.

Chelsea have had a hard summer in the transfer market, bringing in just three new faces, all of which are direct replacements for players who have left, or in the case of Diego Costa, are about to leave.

The former Juventus and Italy coach, won the Premier League title in his first season, but believes that the achievement was built on shaky foundations.

"For me the favourite is the champion, always", Mourinho said ahead of United's trip to Swansea on Saturday lunchtime. "I just think it's the stamp you have when you're champions - that the next season you're the favourite".

United's purchase of Matic from Chelsea reportedly upset Conte, but Mourinho insisted his side's title rivals can not complain about their transfer business before the window closes on August 31.

I don't see any problems about the future. Chelsea would be better with the aim to sign a really top quality defender rather than trying to buy Southampton's defenders, as it's utterly ridiculous that a club would sell a majority of their backline without someone already lined up.

"I want to break this bad record [of sackings at Chelsea]".

Tottenham have again been linked with the Frenchman, who found chances hard to come by last season due to Mourinho's well-documented frustrations with the attacker.

Alison Bender and Liam Twomey look back on the latest from Antonio Conte, as he endures a tough start to the season. "When you start a job with a new club, I hope to stay in this club for many years", Conte said at a news conference at Cobham Training Centre. "But now from Sunday, I wear again my suit", he said.

"Yes, for sure it's not the same when you play not in your stadium".

"I think we need time. I feel Stamford Bridge is like my house".

"Now I have two years left on my contract but if we have the same vision we can continue to work together".

"Probably the player I was looking for is a player that allows me to play with three in the back and do the wing-back".

The Russian billionaire has demanded a meeting, to address the lack of academy players deemed good enough for the first team.
