US CENTCOM commander appreciates efforts, sacrifices of Pak Army

The delegation was briefed about the Pakistan Army's operations in the tribal region and Pak-Afghan border security mechanism through enhanced surveillance measures.

A delegation of the U.S. armed forces, headed by CENTCOM Commander General Joseph L Votel, visited North Waziristan Agency on Saturday.

The CENTCOM commander also realized the importance of Pak-Afghan bilateral border security cooperation.

Peshawar Corps Commander Lieutenant General Nazir Ahmad Butt received the delegation upon its arrival in the agency. The delegation was also briefed about progress on the socio-economic developments including return of temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) from their houses and villages due to the military offensive.

The United States delegation lauded Pakistan Army's efforts and sacrifices rendered in war on terror.

Later, the delegation visited Army Public School Miranshah and interacted with students.

The CENTCOM commander is on a two-day visit to Pakistan and convened a meeting with Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi earlier in the day today (August 19).
