A debut goal from Jese Rodriguez condemned Arsenal to their first defeat of the new Premier League season following a performance which showcased many familiar failings.

'Arsenal can't afford to carry someone like Ozil.

'It's clear to see that out of possession he doesn't want to know - he only wants to be on the ball, trying to create and making things happen.

"He'll accept, maybe wrongly so, that he doesn't really want to work hard for the team".

"For me I find it very hard".

"He needs to have a good look at himself, if he wants to get away from the club he's not gonna do it in this manner".

Arsene Wenger's side were unable to make their overwhelming share of possession count for anything tangible, while the goal they conceded was the result of a string of defensive failings.

Furthermore, Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard weighed in with his comments on the number of lacklustre performances Ozil continues to produce away from the Emirates Stadium and has called on Wenger to find a solution.

Gerrard said manager Arsène Wenger must address the problem, because when Ozil fails to track back with Arsenal out of possession "you're a man down". I just worry about his reaction and body language - when the ball is turned over he offers his team-mates zero. Away from home he's a liability - he just doesn't do enough.
