"In Toilet - Ek Prem Katha, Ashay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar are addressing this global issue to spread awareness and spark action". The film has been able to break box-office jinx by minting moolah at the ticket window. As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Toilet Ek Prem Katha collected Rs 20 crore on Tuesday, which takes it total tally to Rs 83.45 crore. In fact, the satirical comedy also beat Kumar's recent releases like Jolly LLB 2, which made Rs77.71 crore by the end of its first week, and crime thriller Rustom, which collected Rs50.42 crore in its opening weekend a year ago.

With the film having earned Rs 89 crore already, trade experts feel that it could easily cross the Rs 100 crore mark in the opening week. Toilet Ek Prem Katha has done fabulous collections compared to other big releases in Bollywood. Despite being a manglik, Keshav finds the love of his life in Jaya (Bhumi) and they live happily ever-after. The film released on August 11, 2017.

Toilet - Ek Prem Katha was made on a budget of approximately Rs 18 crore. Earlier this year, Akshay Kumar had delivered the legal drama, Jolly LLB 2.

Kumar further said, "It makes me really happy to tell you that eight-nine months ago in a research report we read that 54% in India defecate in open, but now this 54% has come down to 34% in just eight months". Jolly LLB 2 stands at the fifth position.

Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, Toilet Ek Prem Katha promoted the Swacch Bharat Mission, and was hailed for its inclination towards a social cause.
