New Mexico State running back Larry Rose III was named to the 2017 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List, as announced by SPORTyler and the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the nation's college offensive player of the year who was either born in Texas, graduated from a Texas high school and/or played at a Texas-based junior college.

This is the first time in each of their respective careers where they have been named to the Earl Campbell watch list. Coutee, a preseason All-Big 12 selection, is already a member of the Biletnikoff Award watch list for the nation's top receiver while Shimonek was named to a similar list for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award earlier this summer.

For this award, a player is recognized by a selection committee comprised of Texas-based journalists, college football dignitaries and, in subsequent years, each of the all-time winners.

Tech has had success with the Earl Campbell Award in the past as Patrick Mahomes II was one of five finalists for the award a year ago.

Williams, who hails from Coppell, has been included on just about every preseason awards list he's eligible for.

The 6-6, 220-pound wideout is slated to be one of ISU's top targets at the wide receiver spot in 2017 after catching nine passes for 134 yards and two touchdowns as a freshman in 2016. Past year he anchored a BYU offensive line that helped Jamaal Williams rank No. 5 nationally in rushing yards per game while becoming the Cougars' all-time rushing leader. He followed it up with six catches for 41 yards and a touchdown at Ohio State.

"A very limited number of 2017 Georgia Tech season tickets, which are the only way to secure seats from the Yellow Jackets" allotment for sold-out opener versus Tennessee at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, remain on sale. Ticket packages are still available for all six games this year, including season tickets for as low as $184 a person.
