Subscribers will now get Canary Talk and access to the web app as part of their membership, those who don't won't get the new features.

Canary, the NYC-based pioneer of smart home security, today unveiled several new features across its product lineup, including Canary Talk (two-way audio), a Web app update enabling desktop streaming and an optimized version of its Watch Live feature that delivers true, real-time viewing. Canary is a security camera company and it has a ton of cool features if you are looking for a really good smart home security system. Previously, you could only do so via iOS or Android mobile apps.

Web app: Canary is extending remote user access from the phone and Apple TV to the computer via a new web app. Prior to the app update, there was a delay of about five seconds between what you saw in the Canary app and the activity that was happening.

Canary Talk requires a paid membership which unlocks extended recording access and other perks from $9.99/month.

To achieve this, we completely redesigned the backend of Watch Live to prioritize real-time video delivery. This means that there is now a dedicated connection that will allow the real-time transmission of that data. Standard two-way talk is typically a free feature available on a wide variety of DIY cameras. This new feature, which is called "Canary Talk" and this new feature will be like a home intercom system. If the person is home, they can respond to what that person said by simply talking near where the Canary is.

Home security startup Canary introduced a suite of new features on Monday for its original indoor All-in-One camera - and for the indoor/outdoor Canary Flex camera. The new web app for the live-streaming is great because while you are at work you will be able to watch your home, and you will not need to bring your smartphone. Canary's Membership plan, starting at just $9.99/month or $99/year, is created to protect users prior to, during and following an incident, bringing the promise of security full-circle and extending the way users connect with home and their loved ones.
