Kashmir: Youth dies after CRPF fires pellets on stone-pelters

As three soldiers were injured on Sunday afternoon in Baramulla's Uri Sector in Pakistan's ceasefire violation, one civilian was killed allegedly in security forces firing in Pulwama in the evening. A week earlier, on August 2, another civilian died of pellet injuries received near an encounter site in Pulwama.

Massive clashes erupted between people and the state government forces in Kakapora area of distirct Pulwama on Monday.

Restrictions have been imposed in five police station areas of the city here, a police official said.

They said that CRPF coming from Shopian was hurled with stones at Kakapora in Pulwama and it fired pellets which hit Owais in right part of his chest, causing grievous injuries.

A youth Identified as Mohammad Sayed Bhat was critically injured in Shopian clashes and was shifted to SMHS hospital Srinagar for treatment. "He (Owais) was brought dead to the hospital", the medical superintendent of Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital in Srinagar, Nazir Chowdhary, said. As the encounter was going on, youths threw stones at the forces to help the militants escape.
