While MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma were certainties to don the blue jersey after India's successful campaign in whites, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina have failed to make the cut, despite the rumours of being in Radar for selection.

Mumbai paceman Shardul Thakur made a comeback into the squad alongwith Karnataka batsman Manish Pandey.

The Virat Kohli-led squad features Manish Pandey and Axar Patel, who are returning to the Indian ODI side after a year's gap, whereas Yuzvendra Chahal has also been recalled to the squad. The second and third matches will be played at Pallekele on 24 and 27 August followed by the final two games at Colombo on 31 and 3 September. However, he will vie for a spot with Pandey, Rahul and Kedar Jadhav.

Yuvraj was below-par in the last couple of tournaments, scoring 105 runs in the ICC Champions Trophy and 57 runs during the West Indies tour.

In the bowling department, Axar Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal were picked as the spin-bowling options to go with Kuldeep Yadav, who is already in Sri Lanka for the Test series. The uncapped Mumbai pace bowler Thakur was the leading wicket-taker for India A in South Africa with nine from four matches, conceding runs at just 4.34 per over. Dinesh Karthik will feel himeself unlucky for missing out despite a good series in West Indies.

The first ODI of the series will be played on August 20 in Dambulla.

The T20 match will be played on Sept 6.
