The WWE will hold their first-ever live show in Shenzhen, China on September 17th.

The SVOD service will launch August 18 on Chinese video-streaming website PPTV.

"When we began our exclusive partnership with WWE, we brought WWE's signature programming "Raw'and 'SmackDown'to PPTV and received a great response from WWE fans in China", said Godfrey Zeng, executive vice president of Suning Sports Media, parent company of PPTV".

The WWE's next pay-per-view event is SummerSlam, which will be shown on the WWE Network live in Mandarin on August 21. The launch date comes a few days before Summerslam 2017 which will be broadcast live with Mandarin commentary on August 21, 7 a.m. Beijing time.

Through the agreement, Chinese fans will now have access to a wider variety of WWE content including NXT, 205 Live, Total Divas as well as the vast library of classic matches. PPTV plans to add more than 1,000 hours of content over the next 12 months. "In April, we offered 'WrestleMania" as a pay-per-view event, and again, our fans responded enthusiastically.

Vince McMahon's pro wrestling organization signed a deal with PPTV to offer a subscription video-on-demand service including all live pay-per-view events.

That news came after the announcement that it's flagship WrestleMania event would be made available in China from 2017, and also that the WWE was holding tryouts for Chinese athletes to join the organisation.

WWE's chief revenue and marketing officer Michelle Lawson told the Journal that, "we found out that the content was being consumed on digital sites hosting pirated content".
