Wenger: Sanchez will miss Premier League opener

Sanchez has rejoined training with Arsenal but is not fit enough to face Leicester City in the opening game of the Premier League season on Friday night.

Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City both remain linked with Sanchez, although neither side appear to have made a bid just yet, despite the forward now being in the final year of his contract.

But, according to the Mirror, Arsenal are anxious Sanchez, might revive his efforts to leave the club before the end of the month.

The boxing world heavyweight champion does not rate the Arsenal manager's chances of going the distance once Premier League combat gets underway. He was odds-on to leave, but now he is priced at 13/8 and he is rated at 4/9 to stay put.

That's a big boost for the Gunners as Alexis Sanchez has been ruled out of the game with an abdominal injury.

"He had a little abdominal strain that he caught in training on Sunday morning before he came to Wembley".

Arsene Wenger has stood by his stance that Sanchez will not be sold and reports suggest the player himself has now accepted that he will be at Arsenal for the 2017-18 campaign.

"He had the scan two days ago".

It would therefore appear that one more season with Arsenal and a free transfer next summer to the club of his choosing is now the most likely outcome for Sanchez.

"It's a long time I didn't speak to Nasser, because it's certainly very busy to complete the transfer of Neymar", Wenger told a press conference at Arsenal's London Colney base.

"You will have so many scientists around the team that who will bring out the team to play on Saturday will be more management specialists than football specialists". Personally I think he is a hugely talented player, he's on the way up and he will continue to move up because the potential is there.

It's little wonder some of Europe's elite might look to poach the Chile global after Arsenal finished fifth in the Premier League last season.
