UN Envoy, Iranian Diplomat Discuss Yemen

Meantime, Ould Cheikh Ahmed is scheduled to meet with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

The Iranian foreign minister and United Nations envoy for Yemen on Saturday urged comprehensive political solution to end the humanitarian crisis in the war-torn Yemen, Press TV reported.

He also called on Iran to support the UN's efforts in this regard.

The Iranian diplomat expressed deep concern about the severe humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

Jaberi Ansari further highlighted the framework proposed by the Islamic Republic for political resolution of Yemen crisis and the principles which need to be considered in the path to settle the issue.

The two sides also exchanged views on new ideas for opening up the current political deadlock in talks for Yemen's situation. Leading a number of its vassal states, Saudi Arabia launched the military aggression on Yemen to eliminate the Houthi Ansarullah movement and reinstall a Riyadh-friendly former president.
