Trailing 2-3, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger substituted Giroud and Aaron Ramsey for Elneny and Rob Holding, respectively, while Leicester City's Craig Shakespeare pulled Okazaki in favour of defensive midfielder Daniel Amartey.

Arsenal fell behind twice against a tenacious Leicester City before winning 4-3, thanks to a late goal by Olivier Giroud in the opening match of the 2017-2018 English Premier League (EPL) football season here.

Alexandre Lacazette's 2nd minute curtain raiser was short lived as Shinji Okazaki equalized for Leicester two three minutes later.

"He doesn't want to leave and I'm happy that he wants to stay".

"We started really well and I thought we could stay in control", he told Sky Sports.

'Tonight we needed this win, everyone knows the importance of the first game for confidence.

"Character wise, we have been great tonight". In the end he chose to stay and it was one of the great days of the recent weeks for me.

"I don't know whether it was a lack of concentration or just a lack of game management in the last ten minutes, but you then concede again from a set play in terms of being overpowered".

"The second goal was scored after a poor pass, which can happen, but we conceded the other two after corners".

"We were quite good past year on corners and I believe with a bit of work, we can get that out of the system". You can not keep the strikers happy when they don't play.

"We have got a tough first run but we now can take a lot of confidence from this game, knowing we can go to the big teams and put on a performance and hopefully in the coming games we get that bit of luck and turn the positive performance into good points".

"With the third goal, also after a corner, (Jamie) Vardy's header was nice, but we were there and we had enough time to find our place". I then wanted Wilfred and Daniel Amartey to get up close to their midfield players and for Iheanacho to have the space in the last ten minutes to get on the back of Granit Xhaka.

"He came out and made a statement which we are all aware of but while he trains and plays and is professional the way he is, he will be considered for selection".
