The crash occurred on Old Farm Road, which is about seven miles from Charlottesville, where earlier Saturday one person died and several were injured when a auto plowed through a crowd of counter-protesters at a white nationalist rally.

Witnesses reportedly told local media that the chopper was seen flying low over homes in the area before going down in the area of golf course.

Officers guarding the scene would not confirm who or what was involved, according to The Daily Progress.

Virginia State Police posted on Facebook that a helicopter crashed, but didn't immediately say it was with the force.

"Shortly before 5 p.m. today, a helicopter crashed into a wooded area near a residence on Old Farm Road". It was during this violence that a vehicle slammed into a street crowded with people, killing one person and injuring 19 others.

It's unclear if the crash was related to Saturday's violence, in which one person was killed after a silver Dodge Charger plowed into a crowd of counter protesters.
