Matic was frustrated with the result but has called on United to turn their full focus to Sunday's league opener against West Ham.

The most wasteful clubs summer based in Manchester city for beginners (Bernardo Silva, Benjamin Mendy, Kyle Walker, Danilo, Ederson) spent 218 million pounds, while Manchester United purchased players (Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja MATIC, Victor Lindelof) 145 million into British currency. Six teams are very strong and you must be prepared.

"I think he's very similar in a way to Michael Carrick. But he is a great loss for us".

Antonio Conte has since hinted the decision to let Matic go was not made by him and says people should "ask the club" about the transfer.

"They are getting rid of players who are experienced and from who you know exactly what you're going to get".

"We had an opportunity to equalise, Marcus (Rashford) had a good chance and didn't score, unluckily for us, but this is football". He was good in some games, inexperienced in others. "They've been doing that for years by buying younger players and trying to improve them, and I think Bakayoko, if he keeps improving, he is going to be a serious signing".

Lukaku had earlier ballooned a shot over the crossbar with the goal gaping but reacted smartly to steer the ball home after Matic's effort had been parried by Keylor Navas.

"Of course he missed a chance with an open goal, but he scored his goal".

"I have no doubt that he has not sanctioned that move, he is not happy with it and ultimately he is uncomfortable with it", Neville added.

Phil Jones and Eric Bailly come back into contention for the Old Trafford clash as their suspension only covers European matches, swelling the Red Devils' defensive options.

"To try to develop things that we normally don't do and in this moment there are so many teams playing with three in the back and wing-backs that probably sometimes we have to play that way".
