Arsenal beat Leicester City 4-3 at the Emirates in the first game of the 2017-18 Premier League season.

Giroud, 30, started just 11 Premier League matches last season and scored 12 goals.

Now Roma are set to wait and see if Leicester will relent over the 26-year-old Algeria global who has attracted interest from Arsenal, Monaco and Barcelona in the past.

Substitutes Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud each scored in the final seven minutes to hand Arsenal a win over the 2016 champions.

"It was one of the great days".

"Of course you can not afford to concede three goals at home".

"I'm happy we handled it well in the end", said Cech, who joined the Gunners from Chelsea in 2015. Obviously we can build on it from there'.

'That's what we're aiming to do, ' he added. They would look at it and ask why the club are selling him to a Premier League rival.

The north London side have been heavily linked with a bid to land the 21-year-old France global for much of the summer but a move has failed to materialise so far.

"You look at the view of the referee, in commentary I gave him the benefit of doubt because I thought he couldn't see it, but he's got to get that decision right".

However, replays showed in the build-up of the goal that playmaker Mesut Ozil appeared to handle the ball but it was not spotted by referee Mike Dean.

'We have got a tough first run but we now can take a lot of confidence from this game, knowing we can go to the big teams and put on a performance and hopefully in the coming games we get that bit of luck and turn the positive performance into good points'.
