Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in a one-vehicle crash that killed a woman and two children Friday night in Grand Prairie, police say.

Police say 26-year-old Demitri Gomez of Irving was speeding when he lost control and crashed just after 9:00 p.m. on I-30 at Belt Line Road.

The westbound vehicle rotated sideways and entered the median between the ramp and the freeway before crashing into the concrete base of a light pole.

His two children, 4-year-old Alexxia and 3-year-old Armani Gomez, were killed in the crash according to police.

The children were in the back seat, fasted into regular seat belts, according to reports, but were not secured in child seats.

Demitri Gomez was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, where he is listed in serious but stable condition, according to reports.
