Already tying the all-time scoring record for the U.S. national team, the Seattle Sounders' star forward reached another milestone in his team's home matchup against Sporting Kansas City in a 1-0 win on Saturday, scoring the game-winning goal in the 36th minute to mark his 50th career tally with the Sounders across all competitions. The Houston Dynamo joined Seattle and Sporting KC on 37 points after a 3-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes.

The goal was Dempsey's fifth in his last six games. "It's confidence - that's what happens when you get on a streak like we're on", Dempsey said of Seattle's current eight-game unbeaten run that's featured five wins. "We have a lot of depth in this team, we're able to have a lot of competition for spots, we're able to have a consistent lineup but we've had guys who stepped up when they get called, and I think there's still another level to get to".

The Sounders scored in the 36th minute, when Jordan Morris drifted across the field and picked up the ball in the right alley. "That helps with momentum". As he raced toward the end line, he swung in a cross with his dominant right foot that looped over the head of Will Bruin and straight to Dempsey, who headed the ball back across goal past a diving Tim Melia.

There were four yellow cards and Orlando's Kaka was given a red card in the seventh minute of stoppage time. We didn't put a ton of pressure on them around the goal. Sea Davis set up the go-ahead goal in the 60th minute, slotting the ball forward to Alex Muyl with Bradley Wright-Phillips beating goalkeeper Joe Bendik to the spot on the centering pass for the redirect and his 14th goal. Davis then took a throw-in from Kemar Lawrence, tapped it to his right and curled flawless shot from distance in the 80th minute. Four minutes later, Giovinco attempted to play a one-two with Jozy Altidore, but the second pass deflected to Morrow to net his second and Toronto's third, and Delgado slammed home a fourth with three minutes to play.

Dempsey's goal proved to be the victor for the Sounders, who have now gone eight matches without a loss and have climbed to the top of the Western Conference.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Justin Meram scored in the 73rd minute to help the Crew snap a three-game losing streak.

Meram tapped home a cross by Waylon Francis to give Columbus (11-12-2) its first lead. Michael de Leeuw gave the Fire a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute, but Kekuta Manneh chipped a loose ball over the sliding Matt Lampson to tie it in the 18th.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - Teal Bunbury scored his fourth goal in five matches, helping the New England to the victory. Bunbury finished a nice passing sequence in the 53rd minute. Seattle is one win or draw away from matching the club's unbeaten streak of nine games, May 28 to July 16 in 2011.
